Bubba Ho-tep DVD

This glowing review of the DVD release of Bubba Ho-tep at PopMatters makes me keener than ever to see the damn film for myself some day.
Quite apart from the film itself’s obvious merits, how can I possibly resist the lure of a commentary track by Elvis Presley Bruce Campbell?

I’m more than a tad unimpressed (not with you, with the site) that the review site you linked to doesn’t bother to mention the mere “writer” of the film. Apparently it all popped full-blown from the forehead of the director.

Yes, that’s true.
I don’t know how many of the details from Joe Lansdale’s short story survived the transition to the big screen, but when so much of the film’s appeal lies in the basic scenario (which I assume did come from Lansdale’s story) then it’s only reasonable that he should be given some credit, even if much of the film’s success lies in the performances of the cast, the work of the director, make-up artists, cinematographer et al.
