I don't know how many of the details from Joe Lansdale's short story survived the transition to the big screen, but when so much of the film's appeal lies in the basic scenario (which I assume did come from Lansdale's story) then it's only reasonable that he should be given some credit, even if much of the film's success lies in the performances of the cast, the work of the director, make-up artists, cinematographer &lt;em&gt;et al&lt;/em&gt;.
