The “Jack Bauer shot his mother when his hand was in the cookie jar” story is a commonly repeated myth. But that’s all it is – a myth, or an urban legend. Check out the Snopes page that debunks this.
The story is actually referring to an incident when Jack was 5. Jack used a regular stake knife to partially sever his mother’s carotid artery. Furthermore, his mother caught him taking a piece of cake that was in the refrigerator, left for his father. He did not “have his hand in the cookie jar.”
