A sign of things to come

Tagged onto the end of an article in today’s Observer about motorists who are caught on camera whilst speeding but can’t be served with a penalty notice because they register their vehicle using a fake business address, a preview of an argument we’ll be hearing a lot over the next few years:

A Home Office spokesman said the national identity register being introduced to back up planned ID cards would help, and added: ‘We are examining how serious the issue is.’
