Polish posters

July 4th, 2006

I've posted before (at the old site) about the distinctly offbeat posters produced by Polish artists for Hollywood films. Reading this post at The AV Club blog about Hollywood film posters redesigned in the style of medieval Russian illuminated texts (yes, really) I came across a comment by Postmark pointing out this page of Polish movie posters.

In fact, the images came from the site I linked to five years ago, but it's been long enough that I'd forgotten some of them: the retroCRUSH page has a nice selection on a single page, saving the need to browse. There are some genuinely striking pieces of work on display: Superman III (much better than the film deserved), The French Lieutenant's Woman and Trading Places are particularly noteworthy. (IMHO, obviously.)
