Party of Five R2 DVD

August 2nd, 2006

It turns out that despite the best efforts of my temperamental VCR I'm going to get an opportunity to watch Party of Five again after all: season 1 is being released on a Region 2 DVD on 25 September 2006. Yay!

    I've never forgotten that almost every episode of the first season made me cry – and that's saying a bit – and watching it again, it still does.

    According to an IMDB forum thread, ABC1 have only scheduled the first 2 seasons.

    I'm not completely surprised at just getting two seasons on ABC1: I had a feeling this was something they were doing to fill the summer holiday schedules.

    Perhaps they'll have resolved their scheduling issues by the time next summer comes round…

    So did anyone buy this? I think Sony have been giving it a lot of promotion and they've put a "Staring Lost's Matthew Fox" on the cover. They also spoke about it in one of the London free papers last night (Metro/London Lite?)

    Bump!
    Just found out that my favourite ever season (season 3) will be released on DVD on the 25th March in the US. I'm particularly happy because they've shown S1 and S2 on tv a few times but other than the original broadcast S3 has never been re-aired. Funny I was talking about S3 the other day and how much I wished for it. This is the next best thing to it being announced for Blu-ray.

    For those who forget, S3 was when Alexondra Lee joined the show and there was a love triangle with Bailey and Sarah who were living together.

    If I hadn't sworn off buying box sets I'd definitely be getting this: seasons 2 & 3 were my favourites.
