I was aware that FX had screened the first season, but I didn't know where they were as regards season 2. Oh well, I have a few other TV series on DVD to catch up with over the next few months anyway. (Not to mention, I probably shouldn't be splashing out cash I don't have on even more DVDs.)

It's good to hear that season 2 is going to be worth the wait. (That said, I'm not especially bothered one way or the other by Jaime Murray's presence: I found Hustle rather dull and her presence barely registered with me when I did happen to catch an episode. Still, perhaps it was the scripts rather than the actress.)

I don't think it will be out in the UK until the second series gets its premiere screening on FX this summer. As someone who has watched the second series of Dexter through alternative means (ahem), my thoughts are: 1) It is even better than the first (which itself was damn good) in my view, but 2) the finale is a little weak. However the most important thing is that 3) Jaime Murray of "Hustle" fame is a regular for the season as well, which is reason alone to watch it.

If they had made this week's episode a season-ending cliffhanger I'd have gone on a killing spree, starting with the show's producers. I've been completely paranoid about spoilers, so I don't know to what extent the various plotlines get tied up next week, but I'm guessing that at least one or two of the recurring cast members aren't going to make it out alive.

I wonder if we're going to get an explanation as to why the ice-truck killer latched on to Dexter. Is there some as yet unexplored connection between them (through Dexter's blood relatives perhaps, or maybe a relative of the ice-truck killer being one of Dexter's victims?) or was it just a case of one skilled artisan noticing the other's work and tracking him down?

One of my favourite aspects of the show is the way that the writers resist the temptation to spell things out. For example, early on when Dexter found that he'd been left a 'gift' in his fridge, and when those photos of his old haunts started showing up, the first thing that I thought was that Dexter's sister would probably be a target for the ice-truck killer. As far as I can remember, Dexter gave absolutely no sign that it ever occurred to him that if he was being watched by a serial killer who preyed on women his one surviving close relative might also be at risk: he just treated the whole thing as a game, as something that was all about him. For me, that just underlined how far he's pretending to have empathy towards others, even with his sister.

What other imports have you been liking on TV? Did you ever watch Friday Night Lights? I adore that show.

I'd been meaning to ask you what you think of Dexter...I'm absolutely loving it. I had to go online to check that this week's ep wasn't the last one of the season as it had the classic cliffhanger. I very probably will succumb to getting season 2 before it shows on ITV as well, I can barely wait for the weekly episodes as it is at the moment.
