My sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of you.
I have chosen not to return to the show next season. Instead, my wife and I have decided to share a vacation in the relative peace and quiet of Beirut.

[To my mind all the backstage turmoil was worth it, unpleasant as it may have been for some of the individuals directly involved. For its first few seasons - ie until The Larry Sanders Show and Frasier turned up in 1992 and 1993 respectively - Roseanne was by some margin the funniest mainstream US sitcom around.]
