    Thanks for the links: I hadn't seen those before.

    I think what elevates Werning's work above every other example of that sort of shot is how closely her subjects mimic the poses, the clothing and even the style of the original images. It's uncanny, in the best cases, how little (and yet how much) has changed from the earlier image to the next.

    I'm afraid pointing out (the older) Young Me, Now Me has become a bit of a reflex habit of mine because so many of the times I've seen links to Back to the Future (although not here) they've been accompanied by comments along the lines of "What a great idea she's had!" rather than "What a wonderful execution of a fairly obvious concept."

    FWIW, what I really like about Young Me, Now Me is the little stories attached to each post. I find they add an emotional aspect to the pictures which I don't really get from Werning's precise re-enactions. The one exception being the Berlin Wall photo, which, funnily enough, is the one which least matches your analysis above.
