Oprah's E-Book Club
Oprah Winfrey is relaunching her book club, this time with the focus on various classic works which will mostly be in the public domain. Anil Dash sees an opportunity for producers of e-book readers to expand their market and provide a dramatic demonstration of the advantages of limits on copyright.
I'm not sure that Oprah's audience is ready for the e-book. After all, it's not as if techies are all that keen on e-books, and I have a sense that even those techies who are keen customers of sites like Fictionwise mostly read their downloads on PDAs rather than dedicated e-book readers.
Still, it'd be tremendous to see someone make this idea work.

Your best bet is to try one of the links on the E-mail Us page of Oprah's web site. I doubt Oprah reads the emails personally, but it's probably as close as you'll get.

Please help me to make contact with her, i realy need your help, please. Use my adress ASAP. I don't have money to use the side contact with celebrity.

You'd probably have much better luck looking on, say, Oprah's site rather than begging for help on the weblog of a random guy in England with no connection to her. I mean, really.

On checking my referrer logs, I see how Marie-Michelle ended up at my site. Using the My Way search engine to search for oprah E-mail adress (sic) brings up this page as the second result. It appears that the key is the misspelling of the word "address", which was also misspelled in Rachel's query from July. With the correct spelling of the word "address" my site disappears from view.
Regardless of how she found her way here, I emailed Marie-Michelle yesterday and offered her the same advice I did Rachel back in July, i.e. a pointer to the contact page on Oprah's site. I hope she gets the help she's looking for.

Hello Oprah I have faith to believe that you will read this e-mail. I am a fan of yours from the Bahamas and I watch your show religiously. I have a Bachalors degree in Television Production and I watch your show mostly for the work of the production. Your producers have great taste in picking out shows for you, your script writer also writes well. I must say you have a great big heart and a warm spirit. May you continue the great work you are doing in the world. Education, inform and entertain.

To whom is in charge. I would like to Mail Oprah a book to ask her to critique. The substance of the book is poetry, some 65 pages. There are also a few drawings. The book's name is Hermetic Happenstance & the Meandering Blue Marble.
This book is the culmanation of several different ideas & unique in it's manner & delivery. The artwork on the covers is of my design. Please send the address where I can have the post office deliver a copy for Ms. Winfrey.
Cordially, Thomas Halsey.. 3/3/04

Dear Ophah, I have just had my first book published which is a dream come true. I was finally, after several rejection letters, and oh I'm sorry we don't need another children's book right now, I was introduced to a husband and wife team who once had been in my position and they wanted to help. I submitted two of my stories and then I was asked for more which resulted in my book becoming a reality as of Feb. 25, 2004. I would knowing how you have helped people get a message out and I admire your compassion for people I hope you will take me under your wing. thank you for all you do for others. Sincerely, kendall kinney. Sweetwater Tx. The book is titled: Tiger Tails which can be found of the Amazon.com and Barns and Noble web site.

After posting this message I'm closing the comments on this post, because it's become a magnet for people looking for Oprah in all the wrong places.
Once more, for the record: this post mentions Oprah Winfrey but it's written by someone who has no connection whatsoever with Oprah. I have no idea how to contact Oprah Winfrey: if you want to email her or tell her your story, your best bet is to go to her web site and use whatever contact details are provided there. I don't suppose that Oprah personally reads all the messages received via her site, but the people who do read them are 100% more likely to be able to get your words to her than I am.
