T3 trailer

The latest trailer for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is an improvement on the earlier teasers, but still not very encouraging. It may have Arnie in his signature role, and no doubt the SFX will be up to scratch, but look at the downside: no James Cameron or Linda Hamilton, for starters. Then there's the question of whether making Arnie's adversary a female will actually impress anyone: in the wake of Buffy, Dark Angel, Alias, Xena and the like, the sight of a woman wiping the floor with a man in single combat has mostly lost a lot of the shock value it once had.

I'd like to be proved wrong, simply because the first two Terminator films - and especially the first - were memorable examples of high-octane action SF and it would be fun to see the writers pull it off one more time. Instead, it looks like a desperate attempt by Arnie to wring one more payday out of his most lucrative franchise.

In a year without X-Men 2 and two Matrix sequels, T3 might grab my attention, but as it stands I'll be waiting to hear some positive reviews before I venture into the cinema.

Interesting. You post about the T3 trailer, and not mention Claire Danes!

You mention the Matrix sequel and not mention that'll it'll also be on IMAX! To be fair you probably didn't know about that either.

I actually saw my first net-trailer in ages today. Recently my PC has played every trailer pretty jerkily so the T3 and matrix trailers were washouts for me.

I was at a friends place and got a look at The Italian job remake trailer. Despite my reservations it looks pretty good and they've stuck with the mini chase!

Thankfully I have a nice new PC now and the new T3 trailer looks very nice. Shame I can't here it but that's another story :(

I did consider mentioning Ms Danes' involvement, but all I'd be able to say at this point is "I wonder if this is where she expected to end up when she dropped out of MSCL all those years ago?" It's difficult to tell from the trailer alone how far she's merely a slightly bigger name than usual filling the "girl in peril" slot, or whether her part is going to be something a little more interesting.

I do know about the IMAX/Matrix story, but since as far as I know the nearest IMAX screen to me is in Bradford that sort of development is of purely theoretical interest.

I haven't seen the Italian Job trailer yet, but I just can't get my head round Mark Wahlberg in the Michael Caine role. Not to mention that the new Mini isn't as iconic as the original, or as cute as the original.
