iTunes updated

Apple has released iTunes 4.5, which tweaks a few features and adds a couple of handy options. This post at Quarter Life Crisis discusses the details, and includes a very handy tip for turning the new shortcut arrow which appears next to each track name, artist and album in iTunes 4.5 into something useful, especially for those of us living in territories which aren't presently served by the iTunes Music Store.

Or you can just go into Preferences and turn it off... which I did after about five seconds. :)

Now I've made it point at my collection instead of the ITMS, I find it really useful. I just wish they'd also applied it to the Genre column, so I could filter on a track's genre with a single click.

Did you turn it off because you don't want to use the feature, or was it because all those arrows look a bit overwhelming. I can see why they wanted to match the ITMS style, but if the arrows were painted against a less obtrusive background colour - i.e. a much lighter shade of grey - that would be a huge improvement.
